Uprising Devotional 3

You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy.

1 Peter 1:8 NLT

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Romans 10:17 NLT

We see early in the apostle Paul’s life that he was trying to be “saved” by good works, and it was all about what he “did” and his legal obedience. He was still trying to obey the law in order to try and earn God’s favor.

Real intimacy with Christ has a foundation built on faith.

Scriptures teach us that when Christ died on the cross for us, he took all of our sins and we are set free. When Paul understood this, he began to understand that it all came down to a relationship with Christ and the intimacy  of that relationship that mattered. This relationship is only possible by having faith and not by doing good. In other words, real intimacy with Christ has a foundation built on faith.
