UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 21

“O GOD, You are my God, earnestly will I seek You; my inner self thirsts for You, my flesh longs and is faint for You, in a dry and weary land where no water is. So I have looked upon You in the sanctuary to see Your power and Your glory. Because Your loving- kindness is better than life, my lips shall praise You. So will I bless You while I live; I will lift up my hands in Your name.”

Psalm 63:1-4 AMP

At times life can feel like a dry and weary land. A land effected by a spiritual drought. The atmosphere feels dry where we feel personally and spiritually dehydrated. The solution to this is to seek out the refreshing. We must not accept the dryness or allow it to make us faint, make us quit, or make us give up.

One of the ways we can do that is to run to the church. The psalmist said I looked upon you in the sanctuary and saw your power and your glory. The bible tells us that they who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish. To chase spiritual dryness out of our lives, we must plant ourselves in God’s house and receive from its resources. It’s imperative.
Not just attend, but gather with great expectation to receive, and to give out. We gather to join God in his sanctuary and interact with him by praising His name, magnifying His attributes, encouraging his people, and being empowered to continue the journey.

We must plant ourselves in God’s house and receive from its resources. It’s imperative.

This church atmosphere is refreshing, life giving, and restorative. It eliminates dehydration in our soul and floods our life with the life of the spirit.

THINK IT OVER:

  1. How do I approach the church?
  2. Am I planted in the house?
  3. What are my expectations when I gather with the church?
  4. How free am I in my praise?
  5. Am I letting anything keep me out of church?
  6. Have I had the wrong mentality about the church?
  7. In what ways does the church add value to my life?
  8. In what ways do I add value to the life of the church?
