UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 11

Jesus himself taught us to seek intimacy with God through private prayer. Prayer is where the worshiper pours out his heart to God. Jesus Himself stressed the importance of private prayer.

But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Matthew 6:6 (NLT)

UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 10

And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.

Romans 12:1 NLT

Uprising Devotional 8

I love the Lord because he hears my voice and my prayer for mercy. Because he bends down to listen, I will pray as long as I have breath!

Psalms 116:1-2 NLT

One of the best things to have is that one person and that one relationship that makes themselves available any time we need someone to listen. It is that best friend who always answers when you call. Knows exactly what to say and when to say it. Knows how to comfort and act in times of need. We all grow to fall in love with that kind of best friend.

Uprising Devotional 7

Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will.

Ephesians 1:4-5

According to the Webster dictionary the definition of Adopt is to take by choice into a relationship; especially: to take voluntarily (a child of other parents) as one’s own child! God loves us, he chose us, and he adopted us into his family. Uprising Devotional 4

(7)“Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” (8) He has told you, O Man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to love justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:7-8

The verse in Micah 6:8 seems a lot more attainable than the verse in Micah 6:7. Where would one get ten thousands of rivers of oil anyway? Did you notice the reference to Jesus, “Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression….”? (more…)

1 Peter 1:8 NLT

So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

Romans 10:17 NLT

We see early in the apostle Paul’s life that he was trying to be “saved” by good works, and it was all about what he “did” and his legal obedience. He was still trying to obey the law in order to try and earn God’s favor.
