UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 12

UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 12

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins.

Ephesians 2:1

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved.

Ephesians 2:4-5

By grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:8-10

This is revival us being dead in sin, and then being saved from death. Being brought back from the death of sin is nothing we could have done on our own. If it was left to us, we would continue to frolic in sin and call it good. However, we are radically revived to life when Jesus meets us right where we are! (…frolicking in the midst of death!)
When we try to earn our own salvation, we fail. We strive and strive and strive just to fail again and again and again. Salvation can’t be earned. It is by faith and God’s grace, not by our works, we are alive in Christ. This is God’s great love, a life found in Jesus. This is the gift of revival. A gift that cannot be earned but is freely given.  This life given to us was not just for the sake of being alive, but this gift of revival was given to us so that we may share it with others.

We are radically revived to life when Jesus meets us right where we are!

THINK IT OVER:

  1. Have you ever struggled with trying to earn your salvation? Today, lay down the striving and rest in knowing your revival was a gift, it can’t be earned.
  2. Are you holding back pieces of your life from God in an attempt to fix it on your own? Give it up and let the Redeemer revive every area of your life.
  3. How can you share God’s great love with others?
