Uprising Devotional 13

“SO BE done with every trace of wickedness (depravity, malignity) and all deceit and insincerity (pretense, hypocrisy) and grudges (envy, jealousy) and slander and evil speaking of every kind. Like newborn babies you should crave (thirst for, earnestly desire) the pure (unadulterated) spiritual milk, that by it you may be nurtured and grow unto [completed] salvation, Since you have [already] tasted the goodness and kindness of the Lord. [Ps. 34:8.]”

1 Peter 2:1-3 AMP

Once you’ve tasted the goodness and kindness of God, you forever have a thirst for it. Nothing else in the world can satisfy. The world and the ways of the world can get in the way. By if we can be distracted, we can be pulled off course, and then, we can become cold and spiritually disconnected.

Once you’ve tasted the goodness and kindness of God, you forever have a thirst for it.

How do we keep that from happening? Becoming like a a child. A baby even! Innocent towards the things of the world, and craving that which sustains and nurtures our inner man. We need to earnestly desire that which causes growth. Personal revival comes as a result of a spiritual craving.

Personal revival comes as a result of a spiritual craving.

THINK IT OVER:

  1. In what ways can your life become more simple?
  2. Passion follows commitment. In what ways can you raise your commitment level to CHRIST?
  3. Tasting the goodness of God increases your craving for his word. How can you consistently eat at the table of His truth?
