Uprising Devotional 4

(7)“Will the Lord be pleased with thousands of rams, with ten thousands of rivers of oil? Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?” (8) He has told you, O Man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to love justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

Micah 6:7-8

The verse in Micah 6:8 seems a lot more attainable than the verse in Micah 6:7. Where would one get ten thousands of rivers of oil anyway? Did you notice the reference to Jesus, “Shall I give my firstborn for my transgression….”?
Wow. I have to let that sink in, “the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul”. But, it wasn’t the sin of Jesus’s soul that he died for. God gave us the fruit of His body for the sin of our own souls. He was blameless and took our sin and shame.

God gave us the fruit of His body for the sin of our own souls.

What does He ask in return? “to love justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God.”
His love draws us to Him. When we demonstrate that kind of love, people are drawn to God. Revival begins in the small everyday acts of justice, kindness, and humility.

THINK IT OVER:

  1. How can you approach today with kindness?
  2. We all have areas of pride, what area are you holding back? What can you do to begin to walk humbly?
