UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 11

UPRISING DEVOTIONAL 11

Jesus himself taught us to seek intimacy with God through private prayer. Prayer is where the worshiper pours out his heart to God. Jesus Himself stressed the importance of private prayer.

But when you pray, go away by yourself, shut the door behind you, and pray to your Father in private. Then your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.

Matthew 6:6 (NLT)

In this scripture, Jesus was confronting the public prayer of the Pharisees because it was for show. The Bible tells us there are times for corporate prayer, but prayer should never become about other people seeing you. When it does you lose any intimacy with Christ that you may be trying to find.

Never stop praying.

1 Thessalonians 5:17 (NLT)

True Christians seeking intimacy with God will pray most often, and most fervently, in private. The true audience of all our prayers is God, and that is all that should ever matter. If we could understood what a privilege it is that we are invited to come boldly before His throne of grace, we would spend more time there! We would begin telling him our most intimate thoughts, fears, desires, and how much we love Him.

THINK IT OVER:

  1. What are some things that are keeping from praying? Or things that may be getting in your way?
  2. When was the last time prayed in a quiet place?
  3. Go find a quiet place know and begin opening the door of intimacy with God through prayer.
